Adelaide Weekend Markets: Joining the Fullarton Markets & Sunday Funday Markets

As first-time participants and small business owners in Adelaide's weekend markets, Denise and I were both excited and nervous.

We didn’t know what to expect—Would our Filipino artisanal products attract buyers? Were our market stall displays eye-catching enough? Would people understand our brand story?

With an open mind, we embraced the day, and it turned out to be an incredible learning experience. We quickly discovered that market-goers were eager to learn about our Filipino handmade crafts—the history, traditions, and the way each purchase supports artisan communities in the Philippines.

We loved the quirky reactions and big smiles whenever people spotted our adorable animal planters. It was heartwarming to see customers appreciate our handwoven blankets, lovingly crafted by elderly women using traditional wooden handlooms. And we were thrilled when stylish shoppers admired and purchased our elegant Solihiya bags, recognizing the artistry behind their intricate weaving.

Beyond sales, we connected with fellow Adelaide small business owners like Penny from Gate to Garnish and Karl from Moo Woodworking. Their insights were invaluable for market newbies like us.

Though the market setup and pack-down were exhausting, the experience was worth it. We gained a deeper understanding of our brand positioning and how to better connect with customers in Adelaide’s vibrant weekend market scene.

Until next time!
